Digital tenge — Kazakhstan's national digital currency issued by the National Bank. It's an electronic equivalent of cash tenge existing as digital records in a special wallet. Differs from cashless tenge in a bank in that it's issued directly by the central bank. Benefits: programmable payments, instant settlements, transparency. Pilot launch happened in 2023.

Many Kazakh banks let non-residents open accounts remotely: Halyk Bank, Bank CenterCredit, Forte Bank, Freedom Bank. You need: foreign passport, visa or residence permit, IIN (can be obtained online), proof of funds source. Account opening takes 1–5 business days.

Sergek — a system of intelligent cameras in Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and regional centers. Records: speeding, running red lights, lane violations, illegal parking, no seatbelt, phone while driving. Fines come automatically via SMS from 1414 and through eGov Mobile.

Download the Damumed app or use damumed.kz, log in via eGov by biometrics or IIN with SMS code. Choose clinic, specialty, doctor and time. Booking is confirmed by SMS. Electronic referrals and test results are stored in the same app.
+Is cryptocurrency legal in Kazakhstan in 2026?
Holding and owning cryptocurrencies is legal. Mining is licensed and taxed on electricity. Crypto exchanges — only those licensed at AIFC. Using cryptocurrency as payment in Kazakhstan is officially prohibited — settlements must be in tenge. Trading income is taxed.
