An important meeting held on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2025
On 4 November 2025, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov held a meeting with US Secretary of the Interior and Chair of the US Energy Dominance Council Doug Burgum on the sidelines of the ADIPEC 2025 International Energy Forum in the UAE.
The main topic was strengthening more than 30 years of strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and US energy companies.

American companies — the first investors in independent Kazakhstan
Yerlan Akkenzhenov noted that the US remains one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in the energy sector:
“American companies were among the first investors who believed in Kazakhstan’s potential. Today they are our strategic partners in flagship projects — Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan.
The projects implemented in Kazakhstan are key assets in our partners’ global portfolios, underscoring Kazakhstan’s strategic importance for global energy stability,” the minister emphasised.
Kazakhstan and US strengthen energy partnership: transport routes and CPC
During the negotiations the parties discussed in detail joint project implementation and plans for further field development.
Particular attention was given to oil transportation — primarily ensuring the stable and reliable operation of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which is the main export route for Kazakhstani oil.
Kazakhstan and US strengthen energy partnership: digitalization of energy as a new vector
Doug Burgum gave high marks to Kazakhstan’s investment climate, noting that the long-term work of American oil and gas companies serves as evidence of trust and the effectiveness of cooperation.
He emphasised the US’s readiness to expand cooperation on energy digitalization, including the rollout of intelligent management systems, big-data analytics, and the development of smart grids, opening new prospects for technological integration between the countries.
Meeting outcomes
The meeting on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2025 confirmed the shared commitment of Kazakhstan and the US to strengthening a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership in a spirit of trust, respect, and sustainable development.
Cooperation between the countries remains an important factor for the region’s energy stability and technological modernisation.
